Chris Rock's Bio: Chris Rock was born in Andrews, SC, but his parents soon moved to Crown Heights, Brooklyn and later to the working-class Bed-Stuy area of Brooklyn. From his first appearances as a stand-up comedian at Catch a Rising Star in NYC, Rock quickly worked his way up the comedy ranks. His first film role came in "Beverly Hills Cop II" after Eddie Murphy caught Rock's club act.

Rock's first big break came in 1990 when he became a cast member on Saturday Night Live, working with such luminaries as Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider and David Spade. His first comedy album, "Born Suspect," was released in 1991. 1993 saw Rock leave SNL for a "special guest" role on the competing sketch show "In Living Color." After ILC's run ended , Rock wrote and starred in the mockumentary film "CB4," and shortly after left Hollywood to focus on his stand-up comedy.

After 1994's HBO comedy special "Big Ass Jokes," Rock's start power seemed to be rising, but 1996's follow-up specia l "Bring the Pain" cemented Rock's stature as one of comedy's elite, and also earned Rock two Emmy Awards.
