Simon & Schuster/Gallery Books in partnership with Ja-Tail Publishing Company, published La Toya Jackson’s explosive memoir STARTING OVER on June 21, 2011. In an account that sent shockwaves around the globe, La Toya shed new light on the dynamics of the Jackson family and disclosed the truth behind the curtain of secrecy and intrigue that has surrounded her brother Michael and the rest of the Jackson children. She explained her estrangement and her gradual reconciliation with one of America’s most famous families.

In the book, La Toya shares her own journey to hell and back at the hands of her former manager and husband, Jack Gordon. La Toya divulges some of the most painful episodes of her life with an open heart and complete honesty. While she was unable to save Michael, she was able to find the courage to rebuild her shattered sense of self, her career and her relationship with her family, to finally break free.

Her first EP release in over 15 years featured songs that were inspired by incidents written about in the book. The title track, Starting Over, is an inspirational anthem that is about overcoming and empowerment.

On Celebrity Apprentice, La Toya was able to show a gentle but firm way of doing business and won over the often-critical public who had once perceived her in a negative light. She was the only Apprentice contestant to ever fight her way into being hired back after an unjust Trump firing, while simultaneously raising $65,000 dollars for Aids Project Los Angeles.

La Toya was born into America’s Royal Family of Music, the Jackson’s. As one of the younger children, she was exposed to music, and the business of music, all of her life. La Toya made her debut at the MGM grand hotel in Las Vegas, tap dancing and singing with her brothers, The Jackson Five. Having come from an extraordinarily talented family La Toya decided to make show business a part of her life as well and has extensively traveled the world, performing in more than 90 countries. A true renaissance woman, Jackson has emerged as a successful entertainer, Grammy Award-Winning songwriter, best-selling author, entrepreneur, television star and international icon. In 2007 and 2009, La Toya appeared in television shows such as Armed & Famous, which premiered on CBS starring Jackson and other celebrities (Jackson currently maintains her badge by continuing to volunteer as a deputy) and on the British television program Celebrity Big Brother.

The consummate philanthropist, La Toya dedicates herself to a combination of several causes stemming from both her own experiences and following through with the causes her beloved brother Michael initiated. One of their common charities is Aids Project Los Angeles, which provides resources to those living with HIV/Aids, where La Toya donates both financially as well as her time. Due to her personal experience with abuse, Jackson is also focused on battered woman’s shelters. In July of 2009, "Home" was released in Michael's memory with all proceeds going to APLA.

Most recently in March 2010, La Toya tapped into her entrepreneurial side launching a luxurious hand cream entitled, Dream Cream; a hand cream from German cosmetics firm Alessandro International.
