Carrie Underwood's Bio: Carrie Marie Underwood was recognized as a talented singer long before the American Idol victory that rocketed her from singing at her local Free Will Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma to super-stardom and Superbowl halftime performances. In 1996, after a local admirer arranged for her to audition for Capitol Records, Carrie barely missed signing a contract due to changes in Capitol's management, but later confessed that she believed it to be beneficial, saying that she "wouldn't have been ready then." ; After high school, with her dreams of being a singer all but abandoned, she attended Northeastern State University. Working a variety of jobs, including waiting tables at a pizzeria, assistant at a veterinary clinic, and even working at a zoo during her co llege years, she was preparing for her future with a focus on mass communications and journalism. In the summer of 2004, she auditioned for American Idol season 4 in St. Louis, MO.

On May 25, 2005, Carrie Underwood became the winner of American Idol, and her life was forever changed.

Since her American Idol victory, Carrie has broken countless country music records, made a number of television appearances both as herself and as an actress, headlined a number of blockbuster tours, and released chart-smashing albu ms that have forever reshaped the modern music landscape.
