Andy Samberg's Bio: David Andrew Samberg (Andy Samberg) was born on August 18th, 1978 to Margi (an elementary school teacher) and Ben Samberg (a photographer.) He was raised in a Jewish household in Berkeley, California. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1996. He then attended UC Santa Cruz for two years before transferring to NYU for film school.

Around this time, Samberg and his friends Jorma Taccone and Akiva Shaffer started a comedy troupe titled The Lonely Island, whose short films and viral video clips were featured on the popular untelevised television web channel 101.com. They rapidly gained popularity, and were soon asked to write for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2004, hosted by Jimmy Fallon. This proved to be a life-changing experience for Andy, as he ultimately auditioned for Saturday Night Live due to the encouragement of Jimmy Fallon during that time. After his audition, Andy was cast as a featured performer on SNL, while Jorma and Akiva joined as writers.

Andy's breakout was a Digital Short titled "Lazy Sunday", featuring himself and Chris Parnell - two nerds living in Manhattan, rapping "hard core" about The Chronicles of Narnia. It quickly became an internet phenomenon. Andy continued to crank out Digital Shorts hits with the likes of Justin Timberlake, T-Pain, and so forth. His digital short "I'm on a Boat" with T-Pain was nominated for a Grammy award in 2009.
